Numicon

Numicon is a system that helps to effectively acquire basic mathematics for preschool age children, giving visual and tangible meaning to numbers, figures and measurement units. This method is increasingly successful worldwide and focuses on teaching basic mathematics in a creative way, by using games, pictures and touchable materials. The main difference from other methods: the child can hold and touch the numbers and figures. The specially designed figures and other aids are made in a way to give children a clear concept of how addition, subtraction, multiplication and other mathematical actions are done, and how different measurement units and geometrical figures are formed. For example, each number in Numicon is represented by a specific figure. A child can view this figure, touch it and understand how a result comes out of combining different figures — numbers. Therefore, understanding about matters that are often complicated for children shapes easily, without effort and a fun way. Numicon is suitable also for the littlest children to form a stable foundation for acquiring mathematics at kindergarten and school.

It is important to form a deep understanding about mathematical actions, geometry and measurement units already from early age. Mathematics develop logical reasoning, judgement and allow to perceive various interconnections.

Dancing

Did you know that children already as newborns have a sense of rhythm and are able to appreciate and recognise musical sounds?

Every parent might have observed that as their children grow, they start to energetically jump around the room to the tune of a song and hum along, and even perform rather impressive dance moves.

At a very early age, dancing helps children to develop social skills, self-confidence and gives knowledge that promotes development of other skills that will be necessary later in life.

Dancing not only develops children physically and mentally, but also lets them feel joy about their accomplishments and skills. It is recommended for all children, especially the ones full of energy.

Audio speech therapist

An audio speech therapist is a certified medical practitioner who performs evaluation, diagnostics, correction and rehabilitation of communication skills, speech and language, phonation and swallowing disorders for people of any age.
The substance of a consultation is talking through any uncertainty or issues that have come up with regard to parents’ abilities to work with their child, as well as to agree with parents on necessity of further sessions, their intensity, and discuss other matters of interest.

The following main matters are discussed during a consultation:

  • Time — the most productive time period to organise sessions and intensity of sessions in case of each child (both working with a specialist and at home). Audio speech therapist agrees with parents on a schedule of sessions, as well as on exercises (and frequency of exercises) to do at home.
  • Already existing resources/materials at home — during consultations we talk about what are the available resources/materials and what games these materials can be used in to develop the skills that the child is lacking. Even the simplest materials (for example, balls, any colourful piece of fabric, etc.) can serve as means to make a developing material.
  • Ideas/games — together we talk about what games the child likes and how to maximise effectiveness in the work process. Audio speech therapist additionally suggests games and how to work with them.
  • Any other questions that may appear.
